Nicaragua Mission Trip/Day Five/November 15, 2016

6:17 am It is another beautiful morning in Nicaragua! The birds are alive here this morning singing their chorus of songs to us. The sun is rising and the morning is cool and still. The sounds of the city can be heard in the distance. The city is waking and coming to life! Today we return to the clinic to continue the work we began their yesterday. I misreported yesterday as to our task. I described a solid slab would be awaiting us. I forgot I was in a developing country. Their construction is very different from that in the states. They have an outside curb so to speak with squares of empty space bordered by curbs across the span of the foundation. Our job yesterday and today will be to fill in the empty squares with dirt fill. We will also continue to make square supporting pieces for the rebarb that will make up the column sections that will support the roof. It will be a good day of honest, day laborer type of work. I am sore from yesterday but not as much as I thought I would be so that is a good thing!

Pray for us today as we continue this good work. We will also hear this morning from a former Catholic priest and current educator and professor as to the history of Nicaragua. We have heard he is a very inspiring teacher so we are looking forward to hearing from his. We all have many questions about the country and its history. We have gotten bits and pieces here and there but he is suppose to tie it all together for us. We are excited to hear from him. We have learned so much already. I love how the hosts here have sought to provide us with a context for our work. It helps us to appreciate the history and culture of those we serve. We have loved learning about them. They have a very powerful story and we have learned so much.

Pray for us today! We miss our families and all of you but this is good and powerful work we are doing here. God has been all in it, around it, and through it. That part has been obvious to us all. I hope all of you are well. I prayed for you this morning. We are almost half way there here. I will let you know how are day goes late this afternoon. It has been very strange not be connected to any means of communication. And yet; we have enjoyed some of that. I most proud of our team. They worked really hard yesterday and they are getting along wonderfully. We are becoming family. I will visit with you this afternoon. Have a most blessed and wonderful day!!

I will see you on the road,
