PEACE – Friday, December 19th

“For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  Isaiah 9:6 New International Version
In our world today, one of our main topics of concern is peace in the world. Turn on the news at any time of the day and what you will hear about is one country or another committing acts of war against each other.  Many times it is our Christian Brothers and Sisters that are being targeted.  The solution? Not an easy answer since it could be a “religious war.”
As Christians we turn to prayer and ask God for his guidance and wisdom. We can pray that every movement we make in response to God has a ripple effect, touching family, neighbors and communities.   Belief in God alters our language, Love of God affects daily relationships and Hope in God enters into our work. Could it be that the strength of the world’s Christian warriors could promote a good change in our neighborhoods, towns, cities and ultimately countries around the world?
Gracious and Loving Father, we give You praise for the many blessings in our daily lives, love of our church, families and communities. You know the workings of the world and the tragedies that have affected so many families, both at home and around the world.  We ask for guidance and wisdom for our world’s leaders, as well as for each of us, so that we may be instrumental in continuing our work for world-wide peace.

In Christ’s Name we pray.  Amen.
