The Mighty Power of God (part three)

God’s Power in the Living Word

Last week’s study was about the Spoken Word. “In the beginning God said,“Let there be …” And each day, at His words, another part of the world as we know it was created.

What POWER, that the Word was spoken and all things came into existence! What a revelation when John writes to us that Jesus Himself is the Word Who spoke creation into existence.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made that was made.” John 1:1-3

Last week, we talked about that part of God’s Power in the spoken word. This week I want us to take a good look at God’s Power in the Living Word.

And He, the Word, came to rescue us from the power of sin and death and hell. He came to give us light and love and peace and joy. And most importantly – LIFE. He said, in John 10:10, “… I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” And Who but Christ Himself could do that?

John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father except through Me.”

1 Peter 1:23 NLT “For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, Living Word of God.”

In Christ, there is power over sickness. Read of the healing of the blind, the lame, and of one who was brought back from death.

Matthew 9:27, 29-30 “When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” … Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” And their eyes were opened. …”

(Excerpt from Mark 2:4-11. For the full passage you will need your Bibles.) “… They (the friends) had broken through (the roof), they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. … Jesus said, … “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, …”

In Christ, there is power over death. Read of Lazurus in John 11:43-44 “Jesus said, with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave-clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. …”

There are many other examples as well. Far too many to include in this short devotion.

What we want to take away in our hearts through this article is this: Christ is the Living Word. He spoke life to those who believed. The life He gives is more abundant than we can fathom.

Allow Him room in your life to heal you of any broken places, any past or present hurts. His power is available to you and me.

Thank You, Father God, for creating and for seeing that all You created was good. Thank You for Your Word, for Your Son and Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for revealing Your Power in wonderful ways. Amen.
