The Love of God
GOD is Love. This means more than the fact He loves us. Love is Who He IS. Love is His very nature. God IS Love.
When Christ died on the cross for our sins, He poured out His blood, His very life for us because of His Love. Every day He pours His Love upon us in the Person of His Holy spirit.
God loves us because God is Love. Therefore, let us emulate His nature. Let us love God and love one another.
GOD IS LOVE.
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:7-11
Most people I know learned the following verse as children.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
In this we see that God loves us. He loves us because love is His very nature. Love is Who He is.
There is so much more that could be said about God’s great Love. So much is left unsaid in this article. However, I want to finish this devotion with a truth that Jesus told His disciples. It is something about us and our proper response to this fact that God is Love. Because we are made in His image, it is our responsibility as His children.
“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35
