Advent Music Sunday – December 15

Advent Music SundayAdvent Music Sunday is upon us!  Join us at the 8:30, 9:45, or 11:00 a.m. service this Sunday, December 15, for a musical worship experience exploring themes of anticipation, preparation, and celebration.  St. John’s seasonal Cantata Choir will join with chamber instrumentalists to bring you music for Advent, including:

Advent Hope, a dramatic, pleading arrangement of the traditional English Coventry Carol, asking “When will Messiah Come?”

Mary’s Song, an Appalachia-inspired rendition of Mary’s Magnificat;

Blessed Is the Lord (Benedictus), a lush and inspirational recounting of the canticle of Zechariah, who was a priest and the father of John the Baptist;

Prepare Ye the Way, an exciting setting for women’s voices weaving together classic prophetic texts;

The Glory of Advent, a piece that bookends flowing quotes from Isaiah with grand fanfares celebrating the arrival of God’s light;

and more…
